About

Do you have questions? Maybe this will answer some of them.

Who are you, anyway?
My name is Daniel Walters, and I'm married to a fantastic wife. We've been blessed with four incredible daughters that keep us very happy and busy. On top of that, I'm a confessional Lutheran pastor at a WELS Lutheran congregation in New York state. Check out my church's website if you're interested.

So, why are you writing this blog?
Basically, because I like to write, and a blog is a place that can be done. If a few people want to read it, great. If not, that's fine, too. It can be a bit hard to update the site, what with my time spent being a husband, father, and pastor. But I'm hoping I still have a few interesting things to say once in a while anyway.

Why do you call the site "The Well-Read Saint"?
Well, I like to read. So, I guess I'd call myself well-read. It seems like I'm always reading something. I hope to blog about what I'm reading occasionally. The word "saint" probably sounds impossible and pretentious if you're used to the common way the word is used. Most people would call saints the "really good people" who are practically perfect and worthy of almost-worship by the masses. That's not  me. I am a saint, though. I'm a saint who is holy and perfect because of what Jesus Christ has done for me. He's taken my sin away by his suffering and death. He's given me his perfection. He does this all through faith. So, yeah, though I'm an imperfect sinner, I'm also a perfect saint.

Oh, I also chose the name because you can rearrange the letters for "well-read saint" to spell "Daniel Walters." I know. How terribly clever of me.

Can I comment on the site or contact you?
Sure. Why not? Go ahead and comment whenever you want. I'll only delete it if it's abusive, obscene, etc. You can also contact me through the...wait for it... "Contact Me" page found on the top of the page. Go ahead. Give it a try!

God's blessings on your reading!
